How to Lose Up To 100lbs in a Year

Committing to lose extra weight can be daunting for anyone who seeks to change their body for the better.  For an individual who needs to lose in excess of 100 pounds, the task can feel insurmountable. Moreover, with a seemingly endless list of possible diet plans to choose from, it adds to the difficulty of simply knowing where to start.

If you are a little tight on money and unable to take part in some of the popular weight loss plans or reduced calorie meal services, calorie counting may be the right fit for you and your wallet.
The following are tips on how to begin your weight loss journey:

Start slowly.  Make a resolution such as eating out less or not at all and cooking all meals at home.  At this point, you are not yet committing to anything and eating as much as you want. However, you are making more sound choices by foregoing the processed foods that are often found at some fast food chains and restaurants.

After two to three months of doing the above steps, begin restricting calories.  A good range to start is around 1500-1800 per day; making adjustments lower or higher as needed.

Measure, measure, measure.  It is very important to measure your food by using a digital food scale. This will give you an accurate account of the calories you are consuming daily.

Keep a Journal.  This helps you to not only monitor your food intake, but keep a written account of what you are feeling and thinking on a given day.  If you encounter any stumbling blocks -- which most dieters’ experience -- you can look back on how you overcame it, and regain focus to get back on track. There are many online diet journals to choose from. Just search for one using your favorite engine.

Exercise   Experiment with many forms of exercise until you find the one that works best for you and your lifestyle.

With the above tips, you could average between 5-10lbs a month in weight loss, if you have at least 100 pounds to lose. Also, these tips will instill new eating habits that will help your ‘diet’ evolve into a complete lifestyle change.
